UAE Ireland Cooperation Expands Economic And Tourism Ties At Investopia Dialogues
Senior UAE and Irish officials are exploring deeper economic and tourism cooperation, following high-level talks in Dublin. Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri met Irish ministers and tourism leaders to discuss joint projects, with a focus on sustainable growth, investment opportunities and stronger travel links between the two countries.
The discussions took place alongside the Investopia Global Dialogues in Dublin, which gathered officials, investors and executives from the UAE and the Republic of Ireland. The meetings were attended by Mohammed Hmoud Hamad Rahma Alshamsi, UAE Ambassador to Ireland, and Mohammad Alhawi, Under-Secretary at the UAE Ministry of Investment.

Tourism cooperation featured strongly in the separate meeting between Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri and Paul Keeley, Director of Regional Development at Fáilte Ireland. Both sides examined plans for destination development, regional tourism growth and joint promotion, including tourism route planning and sustainable branding for local destinations in each market.
| Meeting | Irish counterpart | Main focus areas |
|---|---|---|
| Economic and transport cooperation | Darragh O'Brien | Sustainable energy, infrastructure, transport, circular economy and green transition policies |
| Tourism cooperation | Paul Keeley | Destination development, regional tourism, routes, sustainable tourism brands and visitor flows |
Al Marri’s meeting with Darragh O'Brien, Minister for Climate, Energy and the Environment and Minister for Transport, focused on sustainable energy, infrastructure and transport cooperation. Discussions also covered knowledge exchange in the circular economy and policy tools that support a faster shift towards a green economy, reflecting shared sustainability goals.
Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri said the UAE pursues an open economic policy based on strengthening cooperation with international partners. Al Marri stressed that the talks helped deepen coordination between government bodies and business communities in both countries, encouraging joint investments, better air connectivity and increased two-way tourism.
The outcomes of the Dublin meetings support broader UAE-Ireland ambitions in sustainable development, trade and tourism growth. By linking Investopia Global Dialogues with practical sector initiatives, both sides aim to align economic policies, reach tourism targets and maintain regular engagement on investment and connectivity opportunities.
