UAE Introduces New Visa Categories For AI Specialists And More, New Updates Announced

In a significant update to its visit visa policies, the UAE today has introduced four novel categories specifically designed for those in the fields of artificial intelligence, entertainment, events, and the operation of cruise ships and leisure boats.

This announcement was made by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) on September 29. These new categories are part of a broader overhaul that aims to provide more diverse options for professionals visiting the UAE, although the specifics of these visas are yet to be disclosed.

1. Four new visit visa categories have been introduced for specialists in artificial intelligence, entertainment, events, cruise ships, and leisure boats.

2. A humanitarian residence permit is issued for a period of one year, with the possibility of extension by decision of the Authority, in accordance with specific conditions.

3. A residence permit for a foreign widow or divorcee is granted for one year, with the possibility of renewal for a similar period, subject to defined conditions.

4. A visit visa for a friend or relative allows the sponsorship of a friend or relative up to the third degree, based on the sponsor's income.

5. The business exploration visa requires financial solvency to establish a company, ownership of a share in an existing company outside the country, or proven professional practice.

6. The truck driver visa requires the presence of a sponsor, as well as health and financial guarantees.

Clear schedules specify the authorised duration of stay for each visa type and outline the applicable conditions for extension.

The seventh amendment in the series of visa rule changes stipulates clear schedules that delineate the authorised period of stay for each visa type, along with conditions governing the possibility of extension.
