UAE Integrated Family Policies To Boost Quality Of Life And Social Stability
The United Arab Emirates is moving from separate family schemes to a unified policy framework that treats family life as a full journey, starting with marriage and extending through early childhood and work-life balance. This policy shift is linked to declaring 2026 the Year of Family and to launching the National Family Growth Agenda 2031.
Sana bint Mohammed Suhail, Minister of Family, stated that the family is the real foundation for shaping individuals and strengthening social unity in the country. The Minister noted that choosing 2026 as the Year of Family reflects a national outlook that considers investment in people the basis for sustainability and future progress.

Sana bint Mohammed Suhail delivered these remarks during a trends session titled "Towards Stable and Flourishing Families" held within the third edition of the "Mufakiru Al Emarat Forum 2026". The forum was organised by the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Family at ADNEC Abu Dhabi, under the theme "The Emirati Family: National Values and Contemporary Transformations".
The Minister stressed that the family can no longer be seen only as a private social unit, as it has become a strategic national concern closely tied to quality of life, social stability, and the development of human capital. According to Sana bint Mohammed Suhail, effective family policies must rely on scientific evidence and precise data that reflect different family needs and life stages.
Sana bint Mohammed Suhail explained that strengthening families and providing work environments that support parents help improve productivity and reinforce social cohesion over time. The Minister highlighted that development is not limited to economic indicators, but also covers the growth of individuals and their abilities, while belonging represents values, identity, and shared responsibility towards society and the nation.
The Minister pointed out that the strategic partnership between the Ministry of Family and the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research mirrors the alignment of national efforts that aim to support and reinforce the status of the Emirati family in light of rapid social changes. This cooperation seeks to anchor national values while addressing contemporary transformations affecting families.
Sana bint Mohammed Suhail indicated that the current policy transformation reflects a deeper understanding of the different phases of family life in the UAE. This vision follows the path from marriage and family formation, through early childhood care, to achieving a fair balance between professional demands and family responsibilities, in line with the Year of Family 2026 and the National Family Growth Agenda 2031.
