Emirates College Unveils Educational Programs For UAE Innovation Month

The Emirates College for Advanced Education (ECAE) has unveiled an exciting array of activities and programs as part of the UAE Innovation Month. These initiatives aim to inspire creativity, propel technological advancements, and encourage collaborative efforts throughout the UAE. The month-long event is structured to include interactive workshops, joint projects, and showcases of technology, all dedicated to boosting innovation and design. This opportunity is open to students, alumni, educators, and industry professionals, offering them a platform to unleash their creative potential, hone their skills, and contribute to a thriving innovation culture.

One of the highlights of ECAE's Innovation Month is the 'Innovation Months Competition.' This contest calls upon students, alumni, and teachers from both public and private schools to exhibit their innovative projects in areas such as teaching, learning, pedagogy, and educational technology. Participants are invited to submit comprehensive proposals of their projects for assessment by a panel of experts. Selected projects will be showcased on a dedicated demonstration day on 26th February, with outstanding projects receiving recognition and valuable awards. This competition underscores ECAE's dedication to enhancing education through creativity and innovation by providing a platform for showcasing inventive ideas and promoting collaborative exchanges within a vibrant community.

Additionally, ECAE’s FabLab is set to host a 'Fab Lab Open Day' on 21st February. This event will offer an exclusive look at the innovative projects developed within the lab. Attendees will have the chance to observe the capabilities of digital fabrication technologies up close and appreciate the creativity and technical skills displayed during the event.

iLearn Special Edition Sessions

Throughout Innovation Month, ECAE will also extend its iLearn initiative by offering ‘ILearn Special Edition Sessions.’ These sessions are designed with a special emphasis on fostering innovation and creativity in education. Topics covered will include the impact of 3D printing on STEM attitudes in elementary education, introducing the 'Wider Web' in partnership with Etisalat UAE for a digitally accessible web experience for all, and underscoring the importance of STEM in early childhood learning. The final session will delve into STEM's significance in early childhood education, focusing on hands-on learning and critical thinking skills.

Dr. May Al Taee, Vice Chancellor of the Emirates College for Advanced Education, expressed her enthusiasm about the initiative: "Innovation lies at the core of education, a force that empowers minds and elevates ideas. During UAE Innovation Month, our initiatives will serve as a platform for our community to unveil its inventive spirit and practical solutions. Through these sessions, we aim to inspire and equip educators and students with forward-thinking educational methods and critical skills." She further highlighted that embracing ECAE's culture of innovation is a cause for celebration.

Earlier in January, ECAE Fab Lab announced the launch of the Fab Academy 2024 programme. As the exclusive institution in Abu Dhabi accredited by the Fab Foundation to offer the prestigious Fab Academy Diploma, ECAE continues to lead in providing comprehensive education in digital fabrication. This programme is guided by MIT's Center for Bits and Atoms and aims to empower participants with unmatched skills in design, prototyping, and creative innovation.
