UAE And Indonesia Review Cooperation Efforts Across Energy, Investment, And Trade Sectors
Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, the UAE's Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, recently led a delegation to Indonesia from January 29 to February 1. The visit aimed to enhance bilateral cooperation in various sectors, reflecting the aspirations of both nations' leadership. Al Mazrouei was accompanied by Abdullah Salem Al Dhaheri, the UAE Ambassador to Indonesia and non-resident Ambassador to East Timor.
During his visit, Al Mazrouei met with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto in Jakarta. He conveyed greetings from UAE leaders, including President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Vice President Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The discussions focused on strengthening joint cooperation across multiple fields.

The meetings highlighted the comprehensive strategic partnership between the UAE and Indonesia. Both countries are committed to enhancing relations in political, economic, investment, trade, and cultural sectors. The Indonesian President expressed enthusiasm for further developing ties that benefit both nations.
Al Mazrouei also held talks with several Indonesian ministers and officials. These included Agus Harimurti, Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure; Sugiono, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Sri Mulyani, Minister of Finance; Hashim Djojohadikusumo, Head of the Housing Task Force; Rosan Roeslani, Minister of Investment; and Ridha Wirakusumah from the Indonesia Investment Authority.
The discussions centred on advancing joint investment projects and exploring new opportunities in areas of mutual interest. The UAE minister chaired the third UAE-Indonesia roundtable meeting at Raffles Hotel in Jakarta. Sugiuno, Indonesia's Foreign Minister, led the Indonesian side.
This meeting brought together ministers, CEOs, and representatives from Emirati and Indonesian companies like Etihad Airways and Emirates Airlines. They discussed investment in priority sectors such as energy, aviation, ports, logistics, infrastructure, mining, cooling technology, strategic industries, defense, food security, construction and housing.
Addressing Challenges
The participants also addressed challenges faced by UAE companies investing in Indonesia. They explored solutions to ensure smooth implementation of joint projects and initiatives. The aim was to facilitate economic cooperation that benefits both countries.
At the end of the visit, Al Mazrouei met with Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan from Indonesia's National Economic Council; Airlangga Hartarto, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs; Zulkifli Hasan from Food Coordination; and Energy Minister Bahlil Lahadalia.
The meetings reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to strengthening economic relations with Indonesia. Key focus areas included food security, energy resources, transportation systems and logistics networks.
