UAE and India Strengthen Ties, Eye Future Collaboration at WGS 2024
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, engaged in a significant meeting with Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, during his visit to the UAE. This visit coincides with Modi's role as a guest of honour at the World Governments Summit (WGS) 2024, which concluded its activities today. The summit, under the theme "Shaping Future Governments", has been a focal point for discussions on enhancing governance and international cooperation.
The meeting, which also saw the presence of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and other high-ranking officials, focused on the robust relationship between the UAE and India. Both leaders explored avenues to further bolster their collaboration across various sectors for mutual benefits. Sheikh Mohammed underscored the importance of global governments working together to tackle current challenges and achieve development and prosperity.

Prime Minister Modi lauded the enduring partnership between the two nations across multiple domains. The discussions also highlighted the World Governments Summit's role in promoting governance excellence, fostering knowledge exchange, and facilitating international cooperation for improved government functions and a brighter future.
The summit, held from 12-14 February, brought together an impressive assembly of global leaders, including over 25 heads of state, representatives from more than 85 international and regional organisations, and 140 governments. It featured over 200 speakers who delved into future global trends through more than 110 dialogues and sessions. With more than 4,000 attendees, the event also hosted over 23 ministerial meetings and executive sessions with participation from more than 300 ministers.
This meeting between Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid and Prime Minister Modi not only underscores the strong ties between the UAE and India but also their shared commitment to enhancing international cooperation for global development and prosperity.
