UAE And India Hold Second Joint Steering Committee Meeting To Enhance Cultural Cooperation

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) recently hosted the second Joint Steering Committee Meeting of the UAE–India Cultural Council in Abu Dhabi. This meeting was co-chaired by Noura Al Kaabi, Minister of State, and K. Nandini Singla, Director-General of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations. Senior officials from both nations participated in the discussions.

Key discussions centred on enhancing partnerships in strategic areas like tourism, education, and sports within a broader cultural exchange framework. Both countries explored collaboration opportunities in cultural heritage tourism, education, higher education, and professional development. The emphasis was on strengthening people-to-people ties, especially among youth and within hospitality and creative sectors.

Noura Al Kaabi highlighted the robust strategic relationship between the UAE and India. She noted that their deep-rooted cultural, social, and historical connections continue to underpin cooperation across various domains. Al Kaabi stated, "Today’s second meeting of the UAE–India Cultural Council marks another milestone in our shared journey to deepen cultural ties and strengthen the human dimension of our partnership – a vision set forth by our leaderships under the UAE–India Vision Statement."

The session also delved into innovative initiatives aimed at boosting collaboration between public and private sectors in both nations. The goal was to identify new avenues for cultural cooperation and creative exchange. These efforts reflect a commitment to fostering understanding and building enduring bridges beyond borders.

Nandini Singla expressed her views on the significance of culture in strengthening bilateral ties. She said, "Culture is the soul of our nations. When we strengthen cultural ties, we strengthen the very foundation of friendship and trust between our peoples." Singla emphasised that the India–UAE Cultural Council embodies shared history, geography, civilizational bonds, and people-to-people connections.

Commitment to Shared Vision

Singla further added that she is confident that through the Council's efforts, they will bring to life the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The meeting concluded with signing minutes from the first Joint Steering Committee meeting. This marked a significant step forward in advancing UAE–India cultural partnerships.

This official signing reaffirmed both countries' determination to continue fostering meaningful exchanges under the UAE–India Cultural Council framework. Together, they aim to shape a future defined by dialogue, collaboration, and shared prosperity while recognising culture as a bridge between nations.
