UAE Launches Khalifa Bin Zayed Institute For Vocational Education In Senegal

The Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation has opened the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Institute for Vocational Education in Senegal, attended by Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko. The project supports youth skills, expands vocational education in Senegal, and aims to strengthen economic and social development.

The Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Institute for Vocational Education can accommodate about 1,000 students. It delivers practical and theoretical training designed for employment, preparing young people with workplace skills that match current labour market demand and support sustainable development plans within Senegal’s growing economy.

Course offerings at the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Institute for Vocational Education cover multiple technical fields. Specialisations include automotive mechanics, refrigeration and air conditioning, accounting and management, computer science, industrial computing, and networking. These disciplines are selected to reflect real employment needs in Senegal’s public and private sectors.

The Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Institute for Vocational Education forms part of the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation’s wider humanitarian and development programmes. The initiative reflects the UAE’s focus on education as a main driver of economic growth and social stability in partner countries.

Mohammed Haji Al Khouri, Director-General of the Khalifa Foundation, said the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Institute for Vocational Education extends the strong fraternal ties between the UAE and Senegal. The institute also demonstrates the UAE’s commitment to helping youth participate in community development and prosperity.

During the inauguration, Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko highlighted vocational education’s role in empowering youth and supporting comprehensive progress. Sonko praised the UAE and the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation for a project that builds the skills of future generations and enables young Senegalese to launch private business ventures.
