UAE Team Provides Ramadan Aid To Sudanese Refugees And Locals In Chad

In a significant humanitarian effort during the holy month of Ramadan, the United Arab Emirates has extended its support to Sudanese refugees and the local community in Amdjarass, Chad, by distributing over 6,000 Ramadan food baskets. This initiative is part of a broader Ramadan campaign led by a dedicated UAE humanitarian team, comprising the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), the Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, and the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation.

The distribution of these essential food baskets, aimed at supporting families during Ramadan, is carried out in coordination with the Chadian Red Crescent. The aid targets not only those in the Amdjarass city but also extends to the surrounding villages and the Oure Cassoni Sudanese refugee camp located in the Kariari area. This campaign underscores the UAE's commitment to providing relief and fostering a spirit of cooperation, solidarity, and social cohesion among vulnerable groups, especially during significant periods such as Ramadan.

UAE Aid for Chad Refugees

Mohamed Moussi, the government administration official for Sudanese refugees in the Kariari area, expressed profound gratitude towards the United Arab Emirates for their continuous humanitarian efforts. He highlighted the positive impact of such initiatives, including the distribution of Ramadan supplies and baskets, on alleviating the suffering of refugee families.

Beyond food assistance, the UAE's humanitarian endeavors have also focused on education and infrastructure within refugee communities. Notably, 7,500 school bags were distributed to Sudanese refugee students through the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation's support. Additionally, to improve living conditions within the Oure Cassoni camp, five tonnes of Ramadan dates were provided to residents. The camp's infrastructure saw enhancements with the installation of 50 solar-powered lighting units, illuminating roads and schools within the camp premises.

This comprehensive approach to humanitarian aid by the UAE in Chad highlights not only immediate relief through food distribution but also long-term support through educational supplies and infrastructure improvements. These efforts reflect a deep commitment to aiding those in need and strengthening communities facing challenges.
