UAE Gears Up To Host Prestigious APAC Accreditation Meetings In Dubai
The United Arab Emirates will host the Asia-Pacific Accreditation Cooperation (APAC) annual meetings for the first time. Scheduled in Dubai from 13th to 18th July, the event will focus on ‘Accreditation: Empowering Tomorrow and Shaping the Future.’ Representatives from 68 national accreditation bodies and specialists in accreditation and conformity assessment from the Asia-Pacific region will attend.
The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology’s (MoIAT) Emirates National Accreditation System (ENAS), the Emirates International Accreditation Center (EIAC), and the GCC Accreditation Center (GAC) are collaborating to host this significant event. The meetings will feature technical committee sessions to review international best practices in accreditation and conformity assessment.

Omar Al Suwaidi, Undersecretary of MoIAT, stated, "Hosting the APAC annual meetings is a significant milestone and demonstrates our commitment to advancing global standards in accreditation. We look forward to welcoming our international colleagues and fostering a collaborative environment that will contribute to the development of robust accreditation systems worldwide."
The APAC annual meetings serve as a vital platform for member bodies to discuss key accreditation issues, share best practices, and work towards mutual recognition arrangements. These efforts aim to facilitate international trade and cooperation among member states. Discussions will also cover enhancing accreditation processes, fostering international cooperation, and exploring innovations in quality assurance.
APAC was formed in 2019 after merging two regional organisations: the Asia-Pacific Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (APLAC) and the Pacific Accreditation Cooperation (PAC). The organisation promotes mutual recognition of conformity assessments, which helps facilitate trade and enhances trust in products and services among member states.
Strategic Goals of UAE
By hosting these meetings, the UAE aims to showcase its strong accreditation infrastructure and dedication to quality and standardisation. This aligns with the UAE’s broader strategic goals of becoming a global hub for industry and innovation, supported by robust quality assurance foundations. The outcomes are expected to have a lasting impact on harmonising accreditation practices within the Asia-Pacific region.
The event will also provide an opportunity for GAC, EIAC, and ENAS to unify their efforts in strengthening accreditation practices. Recognising conformity assessments from other regions is another key objective. This collaboration aims to enhance trust in products and services across member states.
