UAE To Host International Moon Day Conference In Abu Dhabi During World Space Week 2025
The UAE is set to host the International Moon Day Conference in Abu Dhabi in 2025. This announcement aligns with the UAE's 53rd Eid Al Etihad celebrations and its involvement in Space Week in Luxembourg. The event gathers global experts, entrepreneurs, and policymakers to discuss space exploration advancements and their effects on Earth.
World Space Week, established by the UN General Assembly's resolution 54/68 on 6 December 1999, celebrates space science's contributions to humanity. It is the largest annual space event globally, aiming to inspire students, support space programs, educate the public, and promote international cooperation in space education.

The UAE's hosting of the conference was announced during a session led by Dr. Nasr Al-Sahhaf, Chair of the United Nations International Moon Day. Dr. Salem bin Abdullah Al Wahshi, CEO of the Emirates Council for Work Relations Development, represented the UAE at these meetings.
In 2018, World Space Week featured over 5,000 events across more than 80 countries. Each year, a theme is chosen by the World Space Week Association Board of Directors with input from the UN Office of Outer Space Affairs. This theme guides participants globally to enhance World Space Week's impact on humanity.
The week serves as a platform to build future workforces by inspiring students and showcasing public support for space initiatives. It also educates people about space activities while encouraging international collaboration in outreach and education related to space.
The UAE's participation in such events highlights its commitment to advancing space exploration and fostering global cooperation. By hosting significant conferences like the International Moon Day Conference, the UAE strengthens its position as a key player in the field of space science and technology.
