UAE's MoHAP and EHS Collaborate with AI71 to Propel Healthcare Innovation at WGS 2024
The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) and Emirates Health Services (EHS) have recently embarked on a strategic alliance with AI71, a leader in artificial intelligence, initiated by Abu Dhabi's Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC) and VentureOne. This collaboration was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by Dr. Mohammed Salim Al Olama, Under-Secretary of MoHAP, Dr. Yousif Mohammed Al Serkal, Director-General of EHS, and Shahab Issa Abu Shahab, Director General of ATRC, during the World Governments Summit (WGS) 2024. This partnership heralds a new era in healthcare within the UAE, focusing on the integration of AI technologies to improve patient care and healthcare delivery systems.
The core of this initiative is the deployment of RAZI71, a medical large language model (LLM) developed by AI71. RAZI71 is powered by Falcon LLM, a series of open-source AI models developed in the UAE. This technology is set to revolutionize healthcare delivery by providing advanced care solutions aimed at improving patient outcomes and enhancing the capabilities of healthcare professionals. The agreement underscores a commitment to leveraging AI to advance proactive health management strategies, refine clinical decision support systems, and improve patient monitoring.

Dr. Mohammed Salim Al Olama highlighted that this MoU aligns with the Ministry's strategy to utilize generative artificial intelligence in evolving future healthcare and health data management. This initiative supports the UAE National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence's goal to establish the nation as a leader in AI and foster a knowledge-based economy. Dr. Al Olama also emphasized the significance of signing this MoU during the World Governments Summit, acknowledging it as an essential platform for promoting sustainable future development.
Dr. Yousif Mohammed Al-Serkal remarked that this partnership marks a significant milestone in EHS’s journey towards enhancing healthcare in the UAE through innovation and advanced technology. This memorandum reflects EHS’s commitment to anticipating the future of healthcare and aligns with the UAE National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031 and the objectives of the UAE Centennial 2071 plan.
Shahab Issa Abu Shahab expressed that this collaboration represents a critical moment in leveraging AI to transform healthcare systems, aiming for efficiency and patient-centred care. AI71's involvement extends beyond healthcare, impacting various sectors by fostering an AI-empowered ecosystem within the UAE.
This strategic partnership between MoHAP, EHS, and AI71 signifies a pivotal step towards incorporating smart infrastructure and enhancing vital sectors with AI technologies in the UAE. It aims at ensuring sustainable progress by revolutionizing healthcare delivery through innovative AI solutions.
