UAE Government And World Economic Forum Collaborate For Global Future Councils And Cybersecurity Summit In Dubai
The UAE Government, in collaboration with the World Economic Forum (WEF), is set to host the Annual Meetings of the Global Future Councils and Cybersecurity 2025 in Dubai. These meetings, running until 16th October, will gather over 700 experts from 93 countries. The aim is to foster international dialogue and cooperation to predict future trends in vital sectors and tackle global challenges.
The event will feature 37 councils addressing six main topics: Technology, Economy, Society, Environment, Governance, and Health. Experts will work on advancing global efforts to design a sustainable future, improve community life quality, and create opportunities for future generations. This initiative underscores the UAE's commitment to global dialogue and cooperation.

Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Co-Chair of the Global Future Councils, emphasised the UAE's dedication to fostering international cooperation. He stated that under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the UAE aims to accelerate progress and empower nations in shaping the future.
Al Gergawi highlighted that rapid developments in AI and technology are transforming various sectors. These changes are compounded by cybersecurity challenges, geopolitical complexities, evolving economic models, and social structures. The Councils serve as a reference point for developing solutions for future challenges through shared knowledge and experiences.
Børge Brende, WEF’s President and CEO, noted that the world faces interconnected political, economic, social, environmental, and technological challenges. Strengthening international cooperation is crucial for addressing these issues. The Global Future Councils provide a platform for thought leaders to forecast transformations and propose innovative solutions for a sustainable future.
Cybersecurity Focus
This year marks the first concurrent hosting of the Annual Meetings of the Global Future Councils and Cybersecurity Meeting. This highlights their importance as platforms for dialogue on issues impacting communities' lives. The Cybersecurity Meeting focuses on enhancing cooperation towards a secure cyber space with over 150 experts participating.
The current edition of the Global Future Councils introduces new councils and members to broaden its influence. It includes Output Labs focusing on global economics, digital security, and climate insights. These labs aim to provide leaders with a deeper understanding of fundamental challenges through workshops involving diverse expertise.
Regional Engagement
The Councils' activities will engage wider communities by welcoming new figures from the Middle East and North Africa region. This includes high-ranking executives and entrepreneurs aiming to enhance regional impact. Collaboration Clusters within the Councils will organise workshops on diverse themes like regulatory innovation and multicultural robots.
The agenda also features Strategic Intelligence Activation sessions alongside panel discussions on trade tech and digital health with Abu Dhabi's Department of Health. These initiatives reflect the advanced stage of partnership between UAE and WEF over 16 years involving 900 councils engaging 12,000 officials globally.
