UAE Government Rolls Out Work Bundle For Easier Private Sector Employment

The UAE government has recently unveiled the "Work Bundle," a strategic initiative aimed at enhancing the efficiency of employee residency procedures and work permits for private sector companies. Initially rolling out in Dubai, this initiative is set to expand across other emirates, marking a significant step towards streamlining government and employment processes.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, highlighted the launch as part of the broader "Zero Bureaucracy" initiative. This project is designed to expedite and simplify residency and employment processes, with an ambitious goal to reclaim 62 million working days annually that were previously spent on renewals of residencies and employment contracts. Furthermore, it aims to reduce 25 million procedures each year, offering considerable savings for both governmental and private sectors.

UAE's New Work Bundle Simplifies Employment

The "Work Bundle" is a testament to the UAE's commitment to reducing bureaucracy and improving operational efficiencies within the federal government. By providing a unified platform for employment services such as renewal, cancellation, medical examination, and fingerprinting, the initiative promises to significantly ease the administrative burden on private sector companies.

This initiative is a collaborative effort involving key federal and local entities including the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security, the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, Dubai Health, the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, and supported by Digital Dubai. Digital Dubai plays a crucial role in providing the necessary digital infrastructure and services for seamless data exchange between involved entities.

As part of the UAE's digital transformation efforts, the "Work Bundle" not only aims to enhance the country's competitiveness on a global scale but also significantly improves customer experience. By consolidating 8 services into a single platform, reducing required steps from 15 to 5, and decreasing necessary documents from 16 to 5, the initiative dramatically cuts down both the time and effort needed to complete transactions. Specifically, it reduces the transaction completion time from 30 working days to just 5 working days.

The "Work Bundle" will initially be available on the "Invest in Dubai" platform, with plans to extend its availability to other government digital platforms in the future. The process for recruiting new employees from outside the country has been streamlined to include filling out a unified application and issuing a work permit. Subsequent steps such as medical examination and issuance of an Emirates ID card are mandatory and require the employee's presence. Similarly, renewal services have been simplified for company owners through a unified application process.

This initiative not only signifies a leap towards simplifying procedures but also reflects the UAE government's unwavering dedication to making administrative processes more efficient. By cutting down 25 million procedures annually and significantly reducing required visits and working days, the "Work Bundle" stands as a pivotal move towards enhancing business operations in the UAE.
