UAE Elevates Its Global Humanitarian Role Under Sheikh Mohamed's Leadership: Abdulla Al Hamed
Sheikh Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Hamed, Chairman of the National Media Office (NMO), highlighted the UAE's leadership in humanitarian efforts under President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. "The UAE presents an inspiring approach and model that not only alleviates the suffering of the underprivileged from various countries around the world but also helps them move forward in improving their lives," Sheikh Abdulla said in a statement marking World Humanitarian Day.
Sheikh Abdulla emphasised that the UAE has consistently provided humanitarian and developmental aid to needy communities worldwide. This commitment stems from its humanitarian legacy and principles established by the late Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The UAE’s values include offering help, supporting people, and providing relief to those in distress.

He further noted that extending assistance globally, investing in humanitarian work, and promoting values like solidarity and peaceful coexistence are core to UAE society. The nation actively contributes to easing suffering during crises, supporting peace, stability, and sustainable development.
The NMO Chairman praised the leadership's efforts to enhance the UAE's capabilities in addressing global humanitarian crises. He pointed out that Emiratis are often on the frontlines, driven by a belief in peace, stability, dignity, justice, and equality for all people.
Sheikh Abdulla highlighted several initiatives demonstrating the UAE's extensive relief efforts. These include Operation Chivalrous Knight 3 for Palestinians in Gaza, providing treatment and daily needs through the "Tarahum - for Gaza" campaign, supporting Sudanese communities, and mediating prisoner exchanges between Ukraine and Russia.
Media's Role in Highlighting Humanitarian Work
He stressed the importance of media in showcasing inspiring humanitarian models and the UAE’s contributions to alleviating human suffering. Establishing effective partnerships between media outlets and humanitarian organisations is crucial for accurately reflecting these efforts.
Sheikh Abdulla called for developing media discourse to highlight the authentic values of Emirati society. This includes creating positive relationships with audiences based on human communication and factual support through numbers.
Acknowledging Global Recognition
The world recognises the UAE's ongoing relief efforts. This recognition has helped position it as a leader in global humanitarian systems. Sheikh Abdulla mentioned that these initiatives have made the UAE one of the largest foreign aid donors relative to its national income.
He concluded by reaffirming media’s significant role in fostering a humanitarian spirit among community members. Encouraging action to help those affected by crises remains essential for maintaining this spirit within society.
