UAE Concludes International Cyber Diplomacy Training Programme Empowering Women In Governance

The General Women's Union (GWU), in partnership with the International Telecommunication Union and the UAE Cybersecurity Council, concluded a two-day international training programme on Wednesday. This initiative aimed to empower women in cybersecurity governance and diplomacy. Held at GWU's headquarters, it was under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, who holds several prominent positions supporting women's development.

The "International Programme for Training Women Trainers in the Arab Region and the World" attracted participants from 22 countries. It focused on female policymakers in cybersecurity, professionals involved in peace and security initiatives, and women in technical fields aiming to transition into strategic roles. The programme offered theoretical and practical training to equip women with essential skills for leadership roles in national cybersecurity governance.

UAE Empowers Women in Cyber Diplomacy Training

Participants explored current cybersecurity threats, AI risks, and strategies for national resilience covering legal, regulatory, and technical aspects. They also learned about developing national cybersecurity strategies, engaging key stakeholders, and understanding international cyber diplomacy dynamics. The programme reviewed ongoing UN discussions on cybersecurity and examined global standards for state conduct in cyberspace.

Noura Al Suwaidi, Secretary-General of GWU, emphasised the UAE's leading role in regional and global cybersecurity efforts. She highlighted the importance of empowering women in technology and policy to create a secure digital environment that safeguards national achievements. Al Suwaidi credited this progress to the visionary leadership of the UAE and support from Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak.

Dr. Mohammed Hamad Al-Kuwaiti, Chairman of the UAE Cybersecurity Council, praised the programme's success as a milestone in empowering women within cybersecurity. He expressed gratitude to H.H. Sheikha Fatima for her unwavering support, noting that her guidance continues to drive advancements in this field. "Her guidance continues to drive advancements," he stated.

This initiative provided participants with tools and facilitation techniques necessary for becoming trainers and leaders in cybersecurity governance. It aimed to broaden their skills for strategic roles within cyber policy and diplomacy sectors.
