UAE And Germany Co-Host Energy Forum To Enhance Clean Energy Collaboration
The UAE-Germany Energy Forum, organised by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI) and Germany's Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), highlighted the Emirati-German Energy and Climate Partnership. Experts from both nations discussed future energy grids and AI's role in energy systems. The event coincided with Katherina Reiche's visit, Germany’s Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy.
Eng Sharif Al Olama, MoEI's Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs, emphasised the strong partnership between the UAE and Germany. He stated, "The UAE and Germany share a longstanding and trusted partnership—one built on a shared commitment to clean energy, innovation, and climate action." Since 2017, their collaboration has grown to include climate cooperation in 2022.

Al Olama highlighted two key themes shaping the next decade: future energy grids and AI innovation in energy systems. He explained that Europe and the Gulf will connect through clean electrons, hydrogen molecules, and digital infrastructure. A modern grid is crucial to triple renewable energy capacity and double efficiency by 2030.
The rise of AI-driven data centers demands more electricity, cooling, and system flexibility. Al Olama noted that the UAE is already leading with solar deployment, district cooling, hydrogen integration, and advanced battery storage. These efforts align with their goals for renewable energy expansion.
The UAE is committed to enhancing cooperation in hydrogen supply chains, SAF certification, energy storage solutions, carbon markets, smart cooling systems, digital energy systems, and empowering start-ups. This collaboration aims to strengthen ties between both countries' private sectors.
Al Olama concluded by expressing confidence in the forum's outcomes: "Our partnership has always been defined by action, not dialogue alone. I am confident that today’s discussions will yield concrete next steps, new collaborations, and renewed momentum as we build on the outcomes of COP30 and look ahead to what comes next."
