UAE Gender Balance Council Reviews Strategic Initiatives To Enhance Gender Equality Across Sectors

The UAE Gender Balance Council recently held its second meeting of 2025 at the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood. The focus was on reviewing national progress and initiatives by federal entities to promote gender balance across various sectors. This aligns with the UAE’s leadership vision to enhance its global standing in gender equality.

H.H. Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who leads the Council, highlighted the necessity of cohesive action among government bodies to advance gender balance. She stressed aligning strategies and driving collective progress as essential steps in this direction.

UAE Gender Balance Council Reviews Key Initiatives

Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice President of the Council, noted that strategic initiatives reviewed by ministries exemplify government integration in advancing the UAE’s vision. These initiatives reflect a commitment to embedding gender balance within organisational frameworks and enhancing workplace diversity.

During the meeting, members discussed national initiatives that highlight government responsibility in promoting gender balance in society, the labour market, and the economy. This is achieved through collaboration among various entities.

The Ministry of Economy shared insights on women’s growing role in national economic activities. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation outlined initiatives aimed at fostering flexible and equitable workplace environments.

The Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood showcased achievements in empowering mothers and safeguarding children’s rights. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to enhance women’s economic participation and reinforce equal opportunities.

Commitment to Sustainable Development

Mouza Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Secretary-General of the Council, affirmed that discussions demonstrate strong governmental commitment to advancing gender balance nationwide. The Council aims to broaden opportunities following international best practices.

"These initiatives reinforce the UAE’s success in embedding gender balance as a cornerstone of sustainable growth," she stated. The meeting concluded with members reaffirming their commitment to strengthening institutional collaboration.

The Council plans to continue fostering data-driven policymaking and delivering measurable impacts supporting the UAE's vision for inclusive progress. Under H.H. Sheikha Manal's leadership, it will advance regional and international partnerships for sustainable development.
