UAE Joins Second GCC-Central Asian Countries Strategic Dialogue Meeting
In a significant diplomatic engagement, Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, led the UAE delegation at the second Joint Ministerial Meeting of GCC-Central Asian Countries Strategic Dialogue in Tashkent. This pivotal meeting, co-chaired by Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Qatar's Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Bakhtiyor Saidov, Uzbekistan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, underscored the growing ties between Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) members and Central Asian nations.
The assembly saw participation from foreign ministers across the GCC and Central Asia, highlighting the event's significance. Notably, Dr. Jassim Muhammed Albudaiwi, GCC Secretary-General, and Jeyhun Bayramov, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, attended as a guest of honour. Saidov's opening remarks emphasized the critical nature of fostering stronger bonds and collaborative efforts between these regions to capitalize on mutual interests and opportunities.
Discussions at the meeting revolved around several key areas including political developments, regional and global updates, and enhancing strategic relations. A focal point was the action plan for 2023-2027, aimed at bolstering ties between GCC and Central Asian countries, which was initially signed in September 2022. This plan marks a concerted effort to enhance cooperation across various sectors.
The UAE's delegation also included Dr. Saeed Matar Al Qemzi, UAE Ambassador to Uzbekistan, alongside senior officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Energy and Infrastructure. Their participation underscores the UAE's commitment to strengthening international partnerships and exploring new avenues for cooperation.
This meeting not only reviewed progress in joint GCC work but also set the stage for future collaborations. By focusing on strategic dialogue and partnership, GCC and Central Asian countries are laying the groundwork for a more interconnected and prosperous future.
