UAE's General Authority Of Sports Launches 'Talents' To Nurture Young Athletes

The General Authority of Sports (GAS) in the United Arab Emirates has recently unveiled an ambitious initiative, "Talents," dedicated to identifying and nurturing young sports enthusiasts under the age of 14. This project is not just about finding young athletes; it's about instilling a lifelong passion for sports, enhancing the UAE's competitive edge on the global stage, and aligning with the UAE Vision 2031. The ultimate goal is to support 1,500 budding talents, encouraging them to engage in sports actively, foster a sense of competition, and lead a healthy lifestyle.

Ghanem Al Hajri, the Director-General of GAS, highlighted the project's commitment to early engagement in competitive sports, aiming to elevate young athletes' skills, health, and sportsmanship. This initiative is seen as a stepping stone towards international and Olympic success, potentially elevating the status of Emirati sports globally. It reflects the leadership's vision for sports development in the country.

Sheikh Suhail Al Maktoum, Executive Director of the Sports Development Sector at GAS, elaborated on the collaborative efforts with nine sports federations and bodies. These partnerships are crucial for organizing a variety of competitions, championships, and festivals across nine different sports disciplines. The initiative has already seen the successful execution of three events: the "First Talent Discovery Festival for Athletics Buds," the "Future Falcons Golf Talent Discovery Festival," and the "Abu Dhabi Club Tennis Festival for Badminton Talent Discovery." These events are part of a broader plan that includes 18 such activities designed to scout and develop sporting talent.

The "Talents" project is not just about discovering potential; it's about creating a sustainable ecosystem that nurtures young athletes. By creating a comprehensive database of sports talents and expanding the talent pool annually, GAS aims to ensure continuous growth and professional development for these young athletes.
