UAE Collaborates On Repairing Khan Younis Water Supply Networks
Operation 'Chivalrous Knight 3' has initiated a project to repair the damaged water supply networks in Khan Younis. This initiative, funded by the UAE, is in collaboration with Khan Younis Municipality and the Coastal Municipalities Water Utility. A specialised company is executing the project to ensure water delivery to residents who face difficulties due to infrastructure collapse and network destruction.
The project began after signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Khan Younis Municipality. The MoU aims to restore destroyed main water wells, reservoirs, and networks. This restoration will help the municipality serve residents and displaced families by alleviating their struggles to access water, thus avoiding health disasters.

Khan Younis faces severe water scarcity following the total destruction of 25 wells and partial damage to 12 wells during ongoing conflicts. Damage to the main networks has reached 70 percent, hindering water supply to thousands of Palestinian families and increasing risks of epidemics and diseases.
Operation 'Chivalrous Knight 3' seeks to supply water through humanitarian projects, especially in densely populated regions housing large numbers of displaced persons. In Khan Younis alone, the number of displaced persons has reached 900,000. The funding covers repairing water networks and helping the municipality supply water.
An ongoing water distribution campaign is also part of this initiative. This includes tankers serving various shelter centres, benefiting over 70,000 people. These efforts are crucial as they provide immediate relief to those affected by the conflict.
The repair work is essential for ensuring that residents have access to clean water. Without these repairs, there is a significant risk of health issues due to contaminated or insufficient water supplies.
This initiative highlights the importance of international cooperation in addressing humanitarian crises. By working together, organisations can make a substantial impact on improving living conditions for those affected by conflicts.
