UAE And France Strengthen Relations With Focus On Sports And Olympics
H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and President of the UAE National Olympic Committee (NOC), recently held discussions with Nicolas Niemtchinow, the French Ambassador to the UAE, at the Emirates Towers in Dubai. This high-profile meeting aimed to explore avenues for enhancing bilateral relations between the UAE and France, particularly in the realm of sports.
The discussions covered a broad spectrum of topics, including the deepening of sporting ties, exchange of expertise in hosting major sports events, training of athletes, and the development of sports venues and facilities. The meeting underscored the UAE leadership’s commitment to advancing sports, which has significantly contributed to the growth of the Olympic movement within the nation and elevated the global competitiveness of its athletes.

Additionally, France's preparations for hosting the upcoming Summer Olympic Games were a key point of conversation. H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed conveyed his best wishes for the successful organization of the 33rd Summer Olympic Games scheduled from 26th July to 11th August 2024, and the Paralympic Games from 28th August to 8th September, in Paris. Notably, this will mark Paris's third time hosting the Olympics, following its previous stints in 1900 and 1924.
The French ambassador expressed his admiration for the UAE's comprehensive progress in various fields and its forward-thinking development strategy. He also affirmed France's eagerness to strengthen mutual ties across various areas.
The meeting was attended by notable figures including Reem Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation; and Faris Al Mutawa, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee. This gathering not only highlighted the strong diplomatic relations between the UAE and France but also set a positive tone for future collaborations in sports and other sectors.
