UAE Foreign Minister And Red Cross President Strengthen Humanitarian Ties
H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, recently met with Mirjana Spoljaric Egger, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). The meeting focused on joint cooperation between the UAE and the ICRC in humanitarian and relief efforts, particularly in regions like Gaza Strip, Syria, Ukraine, Sudan, and Afghanistan.
During the discussions, both parties reviewed the UAE's initiatives to deliver humanitarian aid globally. They explored mechanisms to enhance international cooperation to support the humanitarian response system for civilians in the Gaza Strip. The dialogue also included regional and international efforts aimed at achieving a sustainable ceasefire to protect civilian lives and provide necessary humanitarian support to the Palestinian people.

Sheikh Abdullah highlighted the significant role played by the ICRC in humanitarian and relief operations. He praised the Committee's dedication to fulfilling its noble tasks effectively. He also emphasized the UAE's commitment, through its humanitarian arms and institutions, to collaborate with the ICRC and extend assistance to those in need worldwide.
Addressing Humanitarian Needs
The UAE Foreign Minister stressed that the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip requires concerted international efforts. He called for establishing a global humanitarian response system that ensures safe and uninterrupted relief to civilians in Gaza, ultimately alleviating their suffering.

The meeting was attended by Saeed Mubarak Al Hajeri, Assistant Foreign Minister for Economic and Trade Affairs, and Ambassador Jamal Al Musharakh, the UAE's Permanent Representative to the UN and other international organizations in Geneva.
