UAE Federal National Council Deliberates On Ministry Of Interior's Drug Combat Strategy
The Federal National Council (FNC) convened for its tenth meeting of the first regular session of the eighteenth legislative term, chaired by Saqr Ghobash. The session, which took place today, saw the presence of notable figures including H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior; Abdul Rahman bin Mohammad bin Nasser Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention and Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs; and Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation.
The primary focus of the discussion was the Ministry of Interior's policy on combating drugs. H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed highlighted the global challenge posed by psychoactive substances and narcotic drugs, emphasizing their threat to the stability, security, and cohesion of societies. He underscored the unanimous agreement among heavenly laws on the necessity of protecting human life, given that the mind is a divine blessing distinguishing humans from other creatures.
His Highness stressed the importance of human beings as the cornerstone and driving force of development, reiterating the UAE leadership's commitment to prioritizing human care since the nation's foundation. This commitment was echoed in President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's statement that "The UAE citizen is the true wealth of the nation." His Highness called for collective efforts from legislative and executive authorities to mitigate any threats to society's well-being.
In response to queries from FNC members, Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar detailed the UAE government's dedication to supporting People of Determination across various sectors including social, health, educational, and professional levels. He elaborated on initiatives aimed at economic empowerment and enhancing active participation among working mothers with children with disabilities in the private sector.
This session underscores the UAE government's proactive approach in addressing societal challenges, particularly in combating drug abuse and supporting vulnerable segments of society. The discussions reflect a comprehensive strategy that encompasses law enforcement, social welfare, and economic empowerment to ensure a cohesive and secure society.
