UAE Enhances Tourism Sector With New Luxury Projects And Attractions
The UAE is enhancing its appeal to international tourists through a series of luxury tourism and entertainment initiatives. These projects aim to increase competitiveness and economic impact. Among the most notable developments is the Disney Theme Park Resort on Abu Dhabi's Yas Island, set to open in 2025. This will be the first new Disney destination in almost ten years and the seventh globally.
In addition to the Disney project, Abu Dhabi is making significant progress in the Saadiyat Cultural District. Key attractions nearing completion include the Zayed National Museum, Natural History Museum, "teamLab Phenomena" digital art museum, and Guggenheim Abu Dhabi. The capital will also introduce Butterfly Gardens, an immersive sanctuary housing over 10,000 butterflies within climate-controlled domes.

Dubai has announced "Therme Dubai," a wellness resort and interactive park located in Zabeel Park. Scheduled for a 2028 opening, it will be the largest of its kind globally and the first in the Middle East. The AED2 billion project spans 500,000 sq. ft., featuring a Michelin-star restaurant, three 18-metre waterfalls, and expansive indoor and terrace pools designed for up to 1.7 million visitors annually.
Sharjah is advancing with several projects under the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq). These include developing the Kalba Rock Art Centre, which is the UAE's largest rock-art site. Additionally, Sharjah is working on the Kalba Beach project and "Nomad," which introduces new hiking trails.
Umm Al Quwain is progressing with "Downtown Umm Al Quwain," a waterfront development covering 25 million sq. ft. with an 11 km coastline. The emirate is also focusing on eco-friendly initiatives like "Luxeglamp" in its Mangrove Reserve and advancing the second phase of its Creek Waterfront project.
Ras Al Khaimah continues to grow its hospitality sector with new luxury hotels on Al Marjan Island. Notable additions include NH Collection, Fairmont, Taj Wellington Mews, and a Four Seasons resort. The Wynn Al Marjan Island resort remains a highlight with 1,500 rooms, extensive pools and lagoons, and tropical landscapes over 3.6 hectares.
Fujairah's New Ventures
In Fujairah, Minor Hotels has signed for Avani+ Fujairah Resort, a beachfront property featuring 232 rooms and 16 villas overlooking the Gulf of Oman. This project is expected to open in 2028.
The UAE's strategic focus on luxury tourism projects across various emirates underscores its commitment to attracting global visitors while boosting economic growth through diversified offerings.
