ADNOC To Install Over 500 New EV Chargers Across The UAE
The UAE is set to enhance its electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure significantly, with the ADNOC group announcing plans to install more than 500 new fast and superfast EV chargers across the country in the coming years. development was unveiled at the Mobility Live exhibition in Abu Dhabi, highlighting the nation's commitment to sustainable transportation solutions.
Mohamed Khamlichi, Vice President Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure & H2 at ADNOC Distribution, shared that the chargers would be deployed at over 45 strategic locations. "We are planning to electrify key highways and build EV super-hubs to improve the customer journey," Khamlichi stated, signaling a move towards facilitating seamless EV travel across the UAE.

The Mobility Live exhibition, by bringing together technology innovators and global stakeholders, showcased the future of mobility, stressing the importance of sustainable transport solutions. In her keynote speech, Sheikha Shamma bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, President and CEO of UAE Independent Climate Change Accelerators (UICCA), underscored the critical need for sustainable transport options.
Highlighting the progress in green mobility, Sheikha Shamma remarked on the increasing adoption of EVs, a sight that would have been hard to imagine two decades ago. She also mentioned that the UICCA would soon release a report offering policy recommendations on green mobility to the UAE government.
Challenges and Solutions
Addressing challenges in the adoption of EVs, Soundouss Bouhia, Director of Finance and Policy at UICCA, pointed out the need for incentives to encourage the use of electric vehicles. Suggesting solutions like free charging, subsidized rates, and benefits such as privileged parking, Bouhia emphasized the importance of financial incentives in achieving the country's EV adoption targets.
Moreover, the UAE's commitment to decarbonizing its transport sector is crucial for meeting its net-zero goals by 2050. With currently 600 chargers across the country, expanding the EV charging infrastructure is essential for supporting the adoption of electric vehicles.

Abu Dhabi is on a mission to transform its transportation landscape to support a sevenfold increase in tourism. Abdulla Al Marzooqi, Director General of the Integrated Transport Centre, discussed efforts to enhance the public transport network and improve connectivity to landmarks, ensuring a top-notch visitor experience.
