UAE Emphasises Need For Comprehensive Strategic Approach To Resolve Israeli-Palestinian Conflict

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has emphasized the need for a comprehensive strategic approach to address the humanitarian crisis and bring an end to the suffering of the Palestinian people. In a statement released at the conclusion of an international conference on emergency humanitarian response in the Gaza Strip, the UAE called for a resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict based on the Two-State Solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.The UAE highlighted the importance of ending the cycle of violence, hatred, and extremism. It stressed that the Palestinian people deserve a competent and transparent government of independent experts, operating with integrity and in accordance with international standards, to earn the trust of the international community and foster cooperation.The UAE expressed gratitude to His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein of Jordan, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt, and António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, for their call to hold the conference. The conference took place amidst the ongoing Israeli war in Gaza, which has resulted in the loss of thousands of Palestinian lives, including women and children, and has caused widespread displacement, collapsed healthcare systems, increased famine risk, and the spread of diseases.As a responsible party in this crisis, the UAE reiterated its calls on Israel to immediately cease all military activities, comply with relevant Security Council resolutions and International Court of Justice rulings, and ensure the unimpeded delivery of urgent humanitarian aid to Gaza.The UAE has remained committed to several priorities throughout this crisis. Firstly, it emphasizes the urgent need for a ceasefire and protection of civilian lives in accordance with international law. Secondly, it advocates for the safe and sustainable delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza without any obstacles or restrictions. Thirdly, it rejects any attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians from their land. Lastly, it aims to enhance diplomatic efforts towards ending the war and establishing an independent Palestinian state alongside Israel.Under the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE has provided urgent relief and food aid to Gaza since the beginning of the crisis. The UAE's humanitarian initiatives include the 'Gallant Knight 3' operation, which has delivered 33,000 tons of supplies and relief aid to Gaza through various means of transportation. The UAE has also established a field hospital in southern Gaza and a floating hospital at the Egyptian port of al-Arish, providing medical care to thousands of injured Palestinians.In addition, the UAE is committed to providing medical treatment to children and cancer patients in its hospitals, covering all associated expenses for both patients and their caregivers. The UAE has also taken steps to ensure water and food security in Gaza by establishing water desalination plants and automatic bakeries.The UAE has emerged as the largest bilateral humanitarian aid donor to Gaza. During its non-permanent membership at the UN Security Council, the UAE submitted a resolution calling for increased humanitarian aid flow to Gaza, protection of UN employees and humanitarian workers, and the establishment of the UN Senior Humanitarian and Reconstruction Coordinator for Gaza.The UAE emphasizes the importance of supporting Sigrid Kaag, the current UN Senior Humanitarian and Reconstruction Coordinator for Gaza, in addressing the humanitarian crisis. It calls on all relevant parties to cooperate and coordinate with her and the UN mechanism to enhance the flow of urgent humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza.The UAE's utmost priority is securing an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza. It commends the proposals presented by US President Joe Biden and stresses the importance of Israel's commitment to the negotiating path. The UAE also appreciates the mediation efforts undertaken by Qatar and Egypt.In conclusion, the UAE extends sincere gratitude and appreciation to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan for hosting the conference and providing warm hospitality. The UAE remains committed to its humanitarian efforts in Gaza and will continue working towards a peaceful resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
