UAE And Egypt Sign MoU For Peaceful Space Cooperation And Joint Projects

The UAE Space Agency and the Egyptian Space Agency have formalised a partnership to enhance collaboration in space activities for peaceful purposes. This agreement was signed during the NewSpace Africa conference and the 11th Arab Space Cooperation Group meeting in Cairo. The UAE delegation, led by Eng. Salem Butti Al Qubaisi, also attended the inauguration of the African Space Agency headquarters on 20 April 2025.

Eng. Salem Butti Al Qubaisi highlighted the significance of this agreement as a crucial step in Arab space cooperation. He stated, "This agreement is a key milestone in the Arab space cooperation journey. It reflects the UAE's strategic vision, and its belief that space represents a promising gateway to achieving sustainable development, nurturing knowledge exchange, and developing innovative solutions to pressing challenges."

UAE and Egypt Strengthen Space Cooperation

The partnership aims to bolster sustainable development efforts by empowering national talents and utilising space technologies for community service. It aligns with the UAE's vision to establish itself as a reliable partner in the regional and international space sector. The focus is on promoting scientific research and developing space applications for peaceful purposes.

The agreement outlines a long-term framework for civil space cooperation through sharing expertise, research, and technology. Joint projects will be launched to help achieve sustainable development goals in both nations. This collaboration underscores the UAE’s commitment to enhancing its presence in the global space sector.

Al Qubaisi further commented on the partnership with Egypt: "Our cooperation with Egypt confirms our commitment to investing in people, localising knowledge, building a competitive knowledge-based economy founded on innovation and leadership, and achieving a more prosperous future for our people."

This collaboration covers diverse fields such as communication technologies, navigation and timing, Earth observation, remote sensing, and research in emerging technologies. It highlights the UAE’s dedication to expanding its network of strategic partnerships with Arab countries while reinforcing shared interests.

The agreement supports national space system development and leverages science and technology for a sustainable future. By fostering these partnerships, both countries aim to contribute significantly to regional stability and resilience through advanced technological solutions.
