UAE's Strategic Efforts In Combating Terrorism And Fostering Global Peace Lauded
The Union Association for Human Rights (UAHR), in collaboration with the Arab-European Forum for Dialogue and Human Rights, recently underscored the United Arab Emirates' (UAE) proactive measures in the global fight against terrorism. This was highlighted during their participation in the 55th High-Level Session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva. The session, which focused on human rights situations necessitating council attention, served as a platform for the UAHR to present two significant oral statements.
Dr. Fatima Khalifa Al Kaabi, President of the UAHR, in her address to the council, emphasized the critical role of the UAE in combating terrorism and eliminating its funding sources. She pointed out the increasing threats terrorism poses to human rights worldwide, underlining its impact on international security and peace. Dr. Al Kaabi called for enhanced efforts and the activation of mechanisms by the Human Rights Council to safeguard global protection against terrorist acts.

Mariam Al Ahmadi, Vice President of the UAHR, further elaborated on the UAE's endeavors to foster world peace and uphold international human rights commitments. She stressed the council's legal and moral obligations to protect civilian lives, particularly women and children who suffer disproportionately in conflict zones. Al Ahmadi highlighted the challenges faced by these vulnerable groups due to inadequate living conditions and fragile health, education, economic, and development systems.
The statements delivered by UAHR representatives at this high-level UN session reflect the UAE's dedication to promoting peace and human rights on a global scale. Through its commitment to international agreements like the International Counter-terrorism Partnership Agreement, the UAE continues to play a significant role in addressing one of the most pressing challenges to human security today.
These efforts are part of a broader strategy by the UAE to contribute positively to international security and human rights protection. By focusing on eliminating terrorism's root causes and supporting global peace initiatives, the UAE demonstrates its resolve to be a key player in creating a safer, more secure world.
The discussions at the UN Human Rights Council session serve as a reminder of the ongoing challenges in protecting human rights amid rising global security threats. The contributions of nations like the UAE are vital in ensuring that collective action is taken to address these issues effectively.
