UAE National Jiu-Jitsu Team Achieves Dominance In Adult Division At 9th Asian Championship
The UAE National Jiu-Jitsu Team, backed by Mubadala Investment Company, excelled at the 9th Asian Jiu-Jitsu Championship in Amman, Jordan. The team clinched first place in the adult division. Their impressive performance on Day 2 in the women's category added five medals—two gold, one silver, and two bronze—raising their total to 12 and securing the top spot in the overall adults category rankings.
UAE's female athletes showcased exceptional skills against Asia's top competitors. Aysha Alshamsi (45kg) and Shamma Al Kalbani (63kg) secured gold medals. Mariam Al Ali earned a silver medal in the 45kg category, while Hamda Alshkeili (48kg) and Asma Al Hosani (52kg) took home bronze medals.

Mubarak Saleh Al Menhali, Director of Technical Department at the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, praised both athletes and coaches for their remarkable achievements. He attributed their success to months of dedicated preparation. "Our female fighters exhibited outstanding talent and poise, demonstrating that we have a highly competitive group of athletes capable of competing on both the continental and global platforms," he said.
Shamma Al Kalbani expressed her joy after winning gold in the 63kg division. She stated, "This victory means the world to me. It is the result of continuous training and maintaining consistent mental discipline from start to finish." She described standing on the podium as a powerful moment filled with pride.
Aysha Alshamsi, who won gold in the 45kg division, emphasised the team's rigorous preparation. "I felt an enormous sense of success when I went upon the podium and saw the UAE flag rise. It’s a memory I’ll keep forever," she shared.
The National Team's journey will conclude on Monday with the Under-21 division events. They aim for more podium finishes as they strive to solidify their dominance in championship rankings.
