UAE Implements Visionary Initiatives For Development And Cultural Progress In 2024
The UAE has continued its progress in 2024, focusing on development and cultural growth through strategic initiatives. These efforts aim to boost the nation's global influence and leadership across various sectors. This year, the UAE introduced innovative programmes to address future challenges and ensure sustainable governance.
Among these initiatives is the "Unified UAE Numbers" project, a significant national effort to enhance the country's statistical system. This project supports ongoing development in economic, demographic, social, and environmental fields. It involves collaboration between federal and local government entities to position the UAE as a leader in data-driven decision-making.
In the economic domain, the UAE launched the "National Investment Strategy 2031." This strategy aims to double cumulative foreign direct investment (FDI) from 2025 to 2031. The goal is to increase FDI's share of the national economy from 15% to 30%, boosting FDI stock to AED1.3 trillion and tripling cumulative FDI balance to AED2.2 trillion by 2031.
The "Plant the Emirates" programme was introduced in agriculture, featuring initiatives for agricultural development and sustainable food security. Meanwhile, the "Zero Government Bureaucracy Programme" includes a "Work Bundle" that simplifies residency procedures and work permits for private sector employees. Initially launched in Dubai, this initiative will expand nationwide, saving 62 million workdays annually by reducing bureaucracy.
The Cabinet approved the National Anti-Drugs Strategy (2024-2031), aiming for a drug-free UAE by 2031 through comprehensive programmes. Additionally, the National Youth Agenda 2031 focuses on preparing at least 100 Emirati youth for global representation in organisations related to national priorities. It seeks to build strategic partnerships in science and technology while ensuring full employment opportunities for young people.
The introduction of "Blue Residency" marks a significant step forward. This long-term residency is for individuals with exceptional contributions to environmental action and sustainability within or outside the UAE. Furthermore, federal government job appointments now prioritise citizens with at least three years of private-sector experience.
Commitment to Security and Innovation
The UAE unveiled its National Strategy for Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Terrorism Financing (2024-2027). This strategy reinforces its commitment to combating financial crimes. Additionally, a high-level science and technology policy was adopted, focusing on energy transition, cybersecurity, health, food security, water resources, and manufacturing.
The "Young Government Leaders Programme 2024," launched during the UAE Government's Annual Meetings 2024, highlights young leaders' roles across the country. The Cabinet also introduced incentives through the "Riyada" fund with AED300 million allocated to encourage graduates towards entrepreneurship.
These initiatives reflect the UAE's dedication to fostering growth across multiple sectors while maintaining a focus on sustainability and innovation. By implementing these strategies, the nation aims to secure its position as a global leader in various fields.
