UAE Defence Ministry Inks Media Coverage MoU With EDCC For Global Exhibitions
In a significant development for the UAE's defence sector, the Ministry of Defence has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Emirates Defence Companies Council (EDCC). This strategic agreement mandates Al Jundi Journal, a publication under the auspices of the Ministry of Defence, to undertake media coverage responsibilities for the Council during high-profile defence and security exhibitions both within the UAE and on the global stage.
The formalization of this MoU was executed by Staff Major General Mohammed Khalfan Al Mheiri, who holds the dual role of Director of the Office of the Minister of Defence and General Supervisor of Al Jundi Journal, alongside Mona Ahmed Al Jaber, the esteemed Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of the EDCC.

Al Mheiri highlighted the MoU as a cornerstone in fostering a sustainable and strategic alliance with the EDCC. He underscored the significant mutual advantages to be reaped in the context of the UAE's burgeoning defence industry, noting its crucial role in supporting national interests and setting a global standard in industrial excellence.
Al Jaber, on her part, reaffirmed the commitment to providing accurate and in-depth coverage of the UAE's defence industry's progress and achievements. She elaborated on the MoU's role in enabling the creation of specialised media content tailored to defence exhibitions, thus ensuring superior coverage of the innovative endeavors embarked upon by the Council's member entities.
She also mentioned Al Jundi Journal's prestigious standing as a leading defence media outlet, emphasizing that the partnership would significantly enhance the visibility of national companies' efforts in advancing specialised defence and technological capabilities.
Moreover, Al Jaber linked the collaboration to the broader ambitions of the UAE Vision 2071, aiming to elevate the UAE to a position of global leadership in innovation, technology, and defence sectors.
The EDCC, since its inception in 2014, has served as the national voice for the UAE's defence companies, facilitating crucial dialogues between national defence entities and policy-makers to align with the country’s strategic interests. Meanwhile, Al Jundi Journal, established in 1973, has been at the forefront of documenting the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces' news and activities, contributing to the dissemination of critical information related to national security and defence operations.
This partnership between the Ministry of Defence and the EDCC, underpinned by the MoU, marks a new chapter in the UAE's defence narrative, promising enhanced media representation of the nation's defence industry at major international forums and exhibitions. This initiative not only reflects the sector's dynamic growth but also aligns with the UAE's strategic vision to assert its stature as a leading innovator in defence and technology on the world stage.
