UAE And Cyprus Presidents Discuss Strengthening Comprehensive Strategic Partnership During Official Visit
UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides recently engaged in discussions aimed at strengthening their nations' Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The meeting took place at the Presidential Palace in Nicosia during Sheikh Mohamed's official visit to Cyprus. President Christodoulides expressed optimism that this visit would enhance bilateral relations across various sectors.
The two leaders explored ways to boost collaboration in key areas such as economy, trade, technology, renewable energy, education, culture, and tourism. They reaffirmed that the UAE-Cyprus Comprehensive Strategic Partnership serves as a robust foundation for advancing bilateral ties. Both sides acknowledged Cyprus' upcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union as an opportunity for further dialogue and cooperation between the UAE and the EU.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed highlighted the strong partnership between the UAE and Cyprus, noting its steady growth. He emphasised the importance of ongoing negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement between the UAE and the European Union. This agreement is seen as a crucial step towards unlocking new opportunities for trade, investment, and economic cooperation, potentially strengthening ties with Cyprus within the broader EU framework.
The discussions also covered regional and international issues of mutual concern, particularly developments in the Middle East. Both leaders stressed the importance of fostering peace and stability in the region. They highlighted their commitment to delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza's people, reflecting their shared dedication to alleviating humanitarian crises.
The UAE and Cyprus affirmed their intention to continue working with partners to provide assistance to Gaza through all available channels. Both leaders underscored the need for expanding dialogue opportunities and diplomatic solutions to resolve conflicts globally. The talks were attended by Sheikh Mohamed's delegation and several Cypriot ministers and senior officials.
At the conclusion of his official visit, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed departed from Cyprus. The discussions marked a significant step in enhancing cooperation between the two nations across various domains.
