UAE Council For Artificial Intelligence Reviews Updates On National Initiatives And Projects

The UAE Council for Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain recently gathered at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure in Sharjah. Chaired by Omar Sultan Al Olama, the Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, the meeting focused on reviewing national initiatives related to the UAE’s AI Strategy. The council explored updates on projects aimed at enhancing the country's position in artificial intelligence.

Al Olama highlighted that under its leadership, the UAE is advancing as a global centre for AI. He stressed the need for unified efforts across various sectors to create a collaborative environment. This approach aims to boost innovation, improve project competitiveness, and deliver tech-driven solutions that enhance well-being.

UAE Council Discusses AI National Initiatives

The council examined strategies to support the UAE Strategy for Artificial Intelligence's goals. They discussed initiatives promoting AI integration within government entities. This strategy aims to improve customer services and government performance while establishing a robust legislative framework for AI.

Al Olama also mentioned that the UAE government is adopting a proactive stance in developing scalable digital infrastructure. This includes ensuring regulatory frameworks align with global advancements. The focus is on building a knowledge-based economy through sustainable digital infrastructure investments.

Council members reviewed updates on energy and infrastructure data platform initiatives. They emphasised its strategic importance in decision-making and fostering integration among entities. The role of data centres was highlighted as crucial for driving innovation across sectors like energy.

The council showcased geographic studies on data centre distribution nationwide. They reaffirmed the need to expand these centres and connect them to AI infrastructure. This expansion aims to maximise modern technology benefits in achieving global leadership.

Golden Visa Initiative

The progress of the Golden Visa initiative for specialised tech talent was also discussed. Council members explored ways to attract top professionals in this sector. They stressed accelerating procedures and developing policies that adapt to global changes.

This initiative aligns with enhancing the UAE’s status as a hub for creative minds in emerging technologies. It supports ambitions to build an advanced knowledge-based economy, strengthening competitiveness globally.

UAE Artificial Intelligence Award

The council reviewed preparations for launching a new edition of the UAE Artificial Intelligence Award. The first edition saw over 225 submissions from more than 76 entities. Discussions included new categories aimed at inclusivity and boosting competitiveness through innovative AI solutions.

Council members also discussed operational mechanisms of ongoing committee initiatives. Emphasis was placed on developing strategic tools that support decision-making processes effectively.

The meeting underscored the importance of aligning policies with rapid global developments in technology. By focusing on flexible infrastructure investments, the UAE aims to position itself as a global lab for AI applications benefiting communities worldwide.
