UAE Strongly Condemns Armed Attacks On Humanitarian Workers In Sudan

The United Arab Emirates has expressed strong disapproval of the armed assaults on the Zamzan and Abu Shouk camps near El Fasher in Darfur. These attacks, which also targeted relief groups and humanitarian workers, resulted in numerous casualties and injuries. The UAE views these actions as a clear breach of international humanitarian law.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has condemned violence against humanitarian workers who risk their lives to help those in need. They emphasised that targeting aid staff violates international humanitarian law, which protects medical, relief, and rescue personnel. The Ministry stressed the importance of safeguarding these workers during conflicts.

The UAE urged all parties involved to honour their obligations under international law and the Jeddah Declaration. They highlighted the mechanisms proposed by the Aligned for Advancing Lifesaving and Peace in Sudan (ALPS) Group. The UAE called for immediate measures to protect civilians and ensure unhindered access to essential humanitarian aid through all available channels.

The Ministry reiterated that no entity should have the right to obstruct lifesaving assistance. They condemned the use of relief work and humanitarian aid as tools for military or political purposes. In this context, the UAE urged the UN to prevent warring parties from exploiting humanitarian aid for such ends.

The UAE remains committed to supporting efforts aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict in Sudan peacefully. They emphasised the necessity of an immediate ceasefire and pledged to work with regional and international partners to ensure stability and peace for Sudan's people.

The Ministry highlighted the UAE's dedication to reinforcing efforts towards a peaceful solution in Sudan. They stressed that addressing this crisis requires collaboration with both regional and international entities.
