UAE Foreign Minister Condemns Attack On Humanitarian Aid Team In Gaza

In a series of heartfelt messages, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE's Minister of Foreign Affairs, extended his deepest condolences to several international counterparts and a notable humanitarian organization following a tragic incident in Gaza. The communications were directed towards Penny Wong, Australia's Foreign Minister; Radoslaw Sikorski of Poland; David Cameron, the British Foreign Secretary; Antony Blinken from the United States; Mélanie Jolie of Canada; Ali Muhammad Younis, representing Palestine in Abu Dhabi; and Jose Andres, the founder of World Central Kitchen (WCK).

The cause of this outpouring of sympathy was the Israeli military's air strike on a humanitarian convoy from WCK, resulting in the loss of seven lives from its team and leaving others injured. The convoy was in Gaza to bolster the humanitarian aid provided to civilians in the northern part of the strip, who are currently facing severe hardships and famine conditions.

UAE Condemns Gaza Aid Attack

Sheikh Abdullah condemned the attack in the strongest terms, highlighting it as an action against humanitarian workers providing essential relief to those in dire need. He expressed profound sorrow over the casualties and extended wishes for a swift recovery to those wounded in the incident.

Furthermore, Sheikh Abdullah called upon Israeli authorities for an immediate, independent, and transparent investigation into the attack. He emphasized the need for Israel to take full responsibility for the incident and to enhance its humanitarian efforts to address the needs of civilians caught in the ongoing crisis.

The UAE diplomat underscored the critical importance of concentrating regional and international efforts on protecting civilians and ensuring they receive prompt humanitarian assistance. He also advocated for increased actions to prevent further escalation in the occupied Palestinian Territory and across the region.

This tragic event has sparked a wave of international concern over the safety of humanitarian workers in conflict zones and highlighted the urgent need for concerted efforts to protect civilians and aid personnel alike. Sheikh Abdullah's messages reflect not only a gesture of solidarity but also a call to action for all parties involved to recommit to peace and humanitarian principles.
