UAE Climate Action At Top Of National Agenda, Amna Al Dahak Announces

Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, said the 16th Assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency reflects the UAE’s growing global role in renewable energy, noting that more than 1,500 participants from different countries are attending the Abu Dhabi meetings.

Al Dahak told Emirates News Agency that the UAE backs renewable energy initiatives, especially after COP28 and the historic UAE Consensus, which included an agreement to triple worldwide renewable energy production by 2030, and said such gatherings help speed progress towards agreed climate and energy targets.

UAE Prioritises Climate Action, Al Dahak Says

Al Dahak highlighted that the UAE is among the world’s leading countries in renewable energy, with projects and operations in more than 75 countries, and said the country keeps expanding clean energy development and production while activating new projects and rolling out renewable energy solutions across many international markets.

Al Dahak explained that the current IRENA Assembly forms part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, which gathers innovators and major global companies to present the latest renewable energy technologies and to underline how this sector supports climate action efforts across the world through practical solutions and large-scale clean energy deployment.

Al Dahak stressed that the UAE places climate action at the centre of its national agenda, adding that meeting national and global goals requires broader use of renewable energy and greater diversification of energy sources to ensure a balanced, secure and sustainable energy mix for future generations.

Al Dahak also reaffirmed that the UAE supports international efforts on climate action and energy transition, noting that the International Renewable Energy Agency, established in Abu Dhabi in 2009, and its 16th Assembly offer an important platform to coordinate policies, share expertise and reinforce joint work on renewable energy worldwide.
