UAE Cinema Sector Achieves 30% Market Share In Middle Eastern Film Industry
The UAE's cinema industry has seen significant growth, generating AED517 million in revenue from January to August this year. Approximately 11 million people visited cinemas during this period, indicating a strong public interest in theatre experiences. This trend reflects the audience's confidence in the high-quality entertainment options available across the country.
Mohammed Saeed Al Shehhi, Secretary-General of the UAE Media Council, highlighted that the UAE commands 30 percent of the Middle Eastern cinema market. This leading position is due to continuous investments in cinema infrastructure and strategic partnerships with global film studios. These efforts have bolstered the UAE's status as a key player in the global cinema landscape.

The UAE Media Council is committed to enhancing the media economy's role in supporting local economic growth. Al Shehhi noted that cinema in the UAE serves as more than just entertainment; it is a medium for cultural appreciation and dialogue among over 200 nationalities residing in the country. He stated, "These figures demonstrate the rich diversity of cinematic content we offer in the UAE, which caters to a community representing over 200 nationalities."
The UAE boasts 702 cinema screens spread across 72 locations throughout its emirates. This extensive network ensures that diverse cinematic experiences are accessible to audiences nationwide, further solidifying its role as a cultural hub.
