UAE Government Launches Chief AI Officers’ Training Programme To Strengthen Future Technology Leadership

The UAE Government has introduced the Chief AI Officers’ Training Programme to strengthen its status as a leader in future technologies. This initiative, led by the Office of Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, is in partnership with the University of Birmingham in Dubai. It aims to enhance AI leadership within federal government bodies, promoting the adoption and development of smart solutions.

Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, emphasised the importance of investing in leadership for a sustainable future. "Empowering leaders with the right tools and knowledge drives a culture of positive transformation, fuels national ambitions, and empowers leaders capable of driving innovation and proactively shaping future opportunities," he said.

UAE Launches AI Officers’ Training Programme

The programme's curriculum blends academic theory with practical experience over two weeks. It provides Chief AI Officers with insights into current AI trends, governance models, and sector-specific applications. This equips them to spearhead transformative projects within their organisations. The training also addresses ethical, regulatory, and technical aspects of AI implementation while encouraging innovative thinking.

Participants engage in comprehensive modules covering AI fundamentals like governance, generative AI, machine learning, big data, and economics. They also examine real-world applications in sectors such as health, cybersecurity, energy, urban development, government services, and entrepreneurship. These sessions aim to foster strategic vision among participants.

This initiative aligns with the UAE Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2031 and the broader "We the UAE 2031" vision. The goal is to position the UAE at the forefront of global AI and digital transformation efforts. The programme enhances dialogue between UAE AI executives and international thought leaders to share insights and best practices.

The Chief AI Officers were selected following approval by the UAE Cabinet under His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's leadership. Selection criteria focused on candidates' ability to navigate technological changes and integrate AI into government operations effectively.

Al Olama highlighted that nurturing national talent is crucial for creating a competitive ecosystem driven by innovation and technology. This approach supports the UAE’s vision for global excellence through sustainable development.

The programme represents a strategic effort to boost government readiness and accelerate advanced technology integration. By empowering leaders with essential tools and knowledge, it reinforces the UAE’s global leadership in artificial intelligence.
