UAE Commemorates International Workers' Day With Nationwide #HonouringOurWorkers Events
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has announced a comprehensive schedule of events to mark International Workers' Day on 1st May, under the banner #HonouringOurWorkers. This initiative, in partnership with various federal, local government entities, and the private sector, aims to celebrate the contributions of workers in the United Arab Emirates.
Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, extended his congratulations to all workers in the UAE, acknowledging their crucial role in driving sustainable development and reinforcing the UAE's stature on a global scale. "Celebrating workers on their international day is an ongoing commitment that reflects the UAE Government’s humanitarian values," he stated. This celebration is part of MoHRE's strategy to foster a collaborative environment with all labour market stakeholders, enhancing worker satisfaction and innovation.

Dr. Al Awar highlighted the government's dedication to supporting Emirati workers' integration into the private sector and establishing strategic partnerships that contribute to job creation. He expressed gratitude towards all workers for their efforts in elevating the UAE's labour market efficiency and competitiveness.
The weeklong celebration includes a cricket tournament for private sector employees, featuring participation from government and private sector officials, along with strategic partners. This event is complemented by competitions, artistic performances by celebrities and athletes, and a marathon organized in collaboration with the Dubai Sports Council.
Additionally, MoHRE officials will visit standout companies to review their Emiratisation progress, training, and recruitment initiatives. These visits aim to engage with Emirati employees in the private sector and gather their insights. The ministry will also reach out to workers at various labour accommodations nationwide, distributing gifts as a token of appreciation.
The celebration extends to community engagement through the launch of the #HonouringOurWorkers hashtag and activities encouraging community and corporate participation in International Workers’ Day festivities. Moreover, an event featuring recreational activities for workers is being organized in partnership with the ‘Giving Family’ initiative.
In a move to promote tolerance and coexistence, MoHRE is coordinating a series of events for workers from all nationalities across the UAE. This initiative underscores the country's competitive edge and its reputation as a prime destination for employment and residence.
