UAE President Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed And Canadian PM Mark Carney Discuss Bilateral Relations And Investment Agreement

UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney recently engaged in discussions to strengthen bilateral ties. The meeting, held at Qasr Al Shati in Abu Dhabi, aimed to explore avenues for collaboration aligned with the developmental goals of both nations. H.H. Sheikh Mohamed expressed optimism that this visit would further solidify the robust relationship between the UAE and Canada.

The dialogue underscored a mutual commitment to enhancing a partnership that has thrived for over fifty years. Both leaders showed eagerness to expand cooperation in crucial sectors such as investment, trade, technology, artificial intelligence, clean energy, climate action, education, culture, and sustainability. This reflects their shared vision for development and prosperity on both regional and global scales.

During the talks, they also exchanged perspectives on various regional and international issues of common interest. They reiterated their dedication to supporting initiatives that promote peace, security, and stability worldwide for the benefit of all nations and peoples. The discussions highlighted the importance of multilateral cooperation in achieving these goals.

An agreement was signed to protect and promote investment between the two countries. This aims to boost economic cooperation and foster strategic investment partnerships supporting their shared development objectives. Representing the UAE was H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, while Prime Minister Mark Carney signed on behalf of Canada.

In addition to this agreement, a memorandum of understanding on investment cooperation was announced during the Canadian Prime Minister's visit. This further signifies both countries' commitment to strengthening economic ties and exploring new opportunities for collaboration.

Shared Vision for Global Peace

H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed emphasised that UAE–Canada relations serve as a model of cooperation focused on advancing development and prosperity globally. He noted that both countries share similar views on issues promoting development, peace, and multilateral collaboration in the interest of all nations.

The Canadian Prime Minister praised the progress made in UAE–Canada relations. He affirmed Canada's eagerness to enhance areas of cooperation that align with shared interests and contribute to global peace, stability, and prosperity.

The meeting was attended by several key figures from both sides including H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan; H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan; along with other ministers and senior officials.

This engagement marks a significant step towards reinforcing the longstanding partnership between the UAE and Canada while opening new avenues for collaboration across various sectors.
