UAE Cabinet Meeting Led By Sheikh Mohammed Highlights Sector Achievements
In a recent UAE Cabinet meeting chaired by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, a series of significant achievements and strategic initiatives were spotlighted, underscoring the nation's progressive strides in various sectors. Among the key highlights were the UAE's top global rankings in labor dispute absence, talent attraction, and digital skills proficiency. The meeting also unveiled new policies and reviewed ongoing projects aimed at bolstering the country's economic and social landscape.
The UAE has made notable progress in labor and employment, with over 7 million employees benefiting from the Involuntary Loss of Employment scheme. This initiative, alongside the Workers' Protection Program, covers 98.8 percent of the workforce, showcasing the nation's commitment to worker welfare. A new structure for the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation was approved, including a coordinating council for the labor market to ensure stability and competitiveness.

The "Operation 300 Billion" project was reviewed with an aim to elevate the industrial sector's GDP contribution to AED300 billion by 2031. Currently, the sector contributes AED197 billion, with national spending reaching AED67 billion. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to diversify the UAE's economy and enhance its industrial competitiveness on a global scale.
Emphasis on Biofuels and Digital Wellbeing
A national policy on biofuels was approved to promote their production and consumption, reflecting the UAE's commitment to sustainable energy solutions. Additionally, the achievements of the Digital Wellbeing Council were highlighted, including efforts to eliminate over 160,000 harmful websites and accounts targeting youth. This underscores the importance placed on protecting children in the digital age through collaboration among families, media, and schools.
Economic Growth and International Cooperation
The UAE economy has seen significant growth, particularly in non-oil GDP sectors. The Cabinet approved several policies aimed at furthering this growth, including the National Digital Accessibility Policy. On the international front, the UAE has signed 10 comprehensive economic partnership agreements worldwide and approved agreements to eliminate double taxation with Serbia, Georgia, and the Czech Republic. These moves are designed to strengthen economic ties and foster international trade relations.
The Cabinet meeting underscored a wide array of achievements across different sectors in 2023. From labor market reforms to industrial sector growth and international cooperation, these developments reflect the UAE's holistic approach to national advancement and its position as a leading global player in various domains.
