Nusseibeh's visit included a lunch hosted by Mauro Vieira, the Brazilian Minister of Foreign Affairs. Accompanied by Saleh Al Suwaidi, UAE Ambassador to Brazil, they discussed bilateral relations and pressing international issues. The meetings also focused on cooperation in international forums like the United Nations Security Council.

Both countries have served parallel terms as elected members of the UN Security Council. They share a commitment to uphold UN Charter principles amidst growing global polarisation. Nusseibeh praised Brazil’s role in facilitating international cooperation through platforms like G20 and BRICS.

The two sides welcomed progress in Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) negotiations between the UAE and MERCOSUR. The third round of talks concluded successfully last month in Uruguay. They anticipate that CEPA will boost trade and investment between the UAE and Latin America.

The UAE has finalised CEPAs with over 20 countries as part of its strategy to diversify economic ties globally. This approach aims to develop robust partnerships in trade, industry, and investment sectors worldwide.

Environmental Cooperation and Diplomatic Engagements

Nusseibeh also reviewed COP Presidencies Troika work between the UAE and Brazil. Discussions included shared priorities leading up to COP29 in Baku this month and preparations for Brazil’s presidency of COP30 next year.

She met Rodrigo Pacheco, President of the National Congress, discussing stronger bilateral relations and mutual interests. Additionally, she engaged with Celso Amorim, Chief Foreign Policy Advisor to the Brazilian President, on shared foreign policy goals.

Engagements with Academia and Think Tanks

During her stay in Brasilia, Nusseibeh visited Rio Branco Institute. She participated in a panel discussion on modern diplomacy trends with students and faculty at this prestigious diplomatic academy.

Nusseibeh also exchanged views with political observers and private sector representatives at CEBRI, the Brazilian Centre for International Relations. These engagements provided insights into current events affecting international relations.

Nusseibeh concluded her visit by commending the strategic relationship between the UAE and Brazil. She reiterated the UAE’s commitment to achieving shared political, economic, and social development goals over the next 50 years.
