UAE Boats Dominate Qualifying Heats At XCAT World Championship In Dubai

In the lead-up to the second race of the Dubai Grand Prix, UAE boats excelled in the qualifying heats, securing the top three spots. This performance sets the stage for tomorrow's main event. Team Victory recently clinched the UIM XCAT Powerboat World Championship title for 2025 after winning the first race. Their boat, Victory 7, recorded a swift lap time of 27.435 minutes.

Team Fujairah followed closely with a time of 27.607 minutes, while Team Sharjah secured third place with a time of 28.195 minutes. The duo of Salem Al Adidi and Issa Al Ali on Victory 7 increased their team's season tally in this category's qualifying races to 162 points. They now lead by one point over Team Sharjah, which has accumulated 161 points.

Team Fujairah holds third place with 156 points. Tomorrow's main race will see Team Victory starting first on Nessnass Beach in Jumeirah. Having already secured the world title yesterday by widening their lead over Team Britain to 39 points, they are expected to compete without pressure.

This season's XCAT Powerboat World Championship included additional rounds in Fujairah and Kuwait, alongside Dubai's round. The competition was fierce among teams from various countries including Norway, Britain, Sweden, Kuwait, and Italy.

Mohammed Hareb, Executive Director of the Dubai International Marine Sports Club, lauded Team Victory's outstanding performance this season. He confirmed their success in reclaiming the world title that had been elusive since 2017 and achieving their seventh championship win in history.

Their consistent excellence throughout these events has solidified their position as leaders in this sport. The upcoming race promises excitement as teams vie for top honours amidst strong international competition.
