UAE-Bahrain Joint Higher Committee Session Highlights Strong Bilateral Cooperation And Economic Ties
H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, chaired the 12th UAE-Bahrain Joint Higher Committee session in Manama. Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Bahrain's Minister of Foreign Affairs, led the Bahraini delegation. The meeting included several high-ranking officials from both nations.
The UAE's top diplomat highlighted the strong ties between the UAE and Bahrain. He noted that these relations are supported by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain. "This patronage and support have served as a key motivator for our efforts and shared aspirations to elevate our strategic relations and diversify areas of bilateral cooperation between both sides," H.H. Sheikh Abdullah said.
Sheikh Abdullah emphasised that Bahrain is a strategic partner in all fields for the UAE. He stated that Bahrain plays a crucial role in the progress and prosperity of the Arabian Gulf region. The regular meetings of the Joint Higher Committee reflect both countries' commitment to collaboration.
He further mentioned that non-oil trade between the two nations surpassed $7.5 billion in 2023. The UAE aims to enhance partnerships with Bahrain across various sectors such as trade, renewable energy, transportation, infrastructure, and services.
At the session's conclusion, Sheikh Abdullah and Dr. Al Zayani signed the minutes of the meeting. They also witnessed the signing of four Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and an executive programme between their countries.
The MoUs included cooperation in civil aviation, financial policies, competitiveness enhancement, and government training development. An executive programme was also signed to boost tourism cooperation.
Commitment to Continued Cooperation
Sheikh Abdullah expressed his pleasure in working with Dr. Al Zayani and his team. He thanked those involved for their efforts in ensuring a successful committee session. "I am positive you will continue your efforts so that we continue working together to serve and advance our two countries," he added.
The meeting underscored both nations' dedication to exploring opportunities and addressing challenges collaboratively. This approach aims to create innovative solutions benefiting both peoples.
