UAE And Azerbaijan Hold Second Consular Consultations Meeting In Baku To Strengthen Cooperation

The United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Azerbaijan held their second round of consular consultations in Baku, highlighting deepening UAE–Azerbaijan relations. Both sides reaffirmed a shared vision to enhance cooperation in consular affairs and other priority fields, aiming for sustainable progress and stronger bilateral coordination.

Talks reflected the wider context of UAE–Azerbaijan relations, which have gained pace after the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement and the announcement of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Recent reciprocal high-level visits by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Ilham Aliyev further underlined this strategic direction.

UAE Azerbaijan hold second consular talks

The UAE delegation was led by Rashed Nadhar Rahmah, Director of the Consular Services Department at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Emil Safarov, Director of the Consular Services Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, headed the Azerbaijani side and welcomed the UAE officials.

During the meeting, Rashed Nadhar Rahmah conveyed the greetings of H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. Rashed Nadhar Rahmah stressed the importance of closer coordination in consular services, knowledge exchange and alignment of procedures to improve service delivery for nationals of both countries.

Discussions during the consular consultations covered several shared consular issues and practical mechanisms to develop them. Both delegations focused on exchanging expertise, adopting best practices and defining follow-up plans, so that consular services support the broader Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and economic cooperation framework.
