UAE Athletics Team Achieves Four Medals To Top Arab Standings At Asian Youth Games In Bahrain

The UAE Athletics Team has achieved a significant milestone at the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Bahrain. They have increased their medal count to four, comprising two golds, one silver, and one bronze. This accomplishment has placed the UAE eighth overall and first among Arab nations.

UAE sprinter Arwa Ali made history by winning the gold medal in the 100 metres with a time of 11.45 seconds. This was the fastest time ever recorded in the Asian Youth Games' history. She set a new record for the third time during this tournament across all rounds. Qatar’s Dana Salem earned silver with a time of 11.60 seconds, while China’s Yan Shinyi took bronze in 11.79 seconds.

Aisha Mohammed from the UAE clinched gold in the women’s 400-metre race, finishing in 54.25 seconds. India’s Jason Edina secured silver with a time of 55.43 seconds, and Wu Xia Ying from Chinese Taipei won bronze, clocking in at 56.60 seconds.

In another track event, Saeed Omar from the UAE claimed a silver medal in the men’s 400-metre race with a time of 47.18 seconds. The gold went to China’s Jia Yang, who completed the race in 46.57 seconds, while Sri Lanka’s Costa Shanuka took bronze with a time of 47.72 seconds.

Mohammed Adel Al Ali added to the UAE's success by earning a bronze medal in the hammer throw with a distance of 62.03 metres. This achievement marked the UAE's first-ever medal in this event at the Asian Youth Games.

The medal ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Saeed Mohammed bin Kerdous Al Ameri, UAE Ambassador to Bahrain, and Major General Dr Mohammed Al Mur, Member of the Board of Directors of the National Olympic Committee and President of the Athletics Federation.

The UAE's performance at these games highlights their growing prowess in athletics on an international stage, showcasing both talent and determination among young athletes.
