UAE National Programme For Artificial Intelligence Launches Sixth Cohort In Collaboration With University Of Birmingham

The UAE National Programme for Artificial Intelligence has introduced the sixth cohort of its AI Programme. This initiative supports the UAE's strategic vision to lead in global technology by empowering national talent with cutting-edge tools and knowledge. Participants will explore key trends in artificial intelligence and generative AI, aligning with the UAE's goal to enhance its leadership in technology.

Implemented in collaboration with the University of Birmingham, UK, this cohort runs from May to September 2025. It focuses on deepening technical expertise among employees from government, semi-government, and private sectors. The programme aims to refine participants' skills in advanced technology applications, empowering them in the field of AI.

UAE AI Programme Launches Sixth Cohort

The programme introduces participants to artificial intelligence concepts and generative AI advancements. It addresses future challenges and opportunities relevant to their roles. Key topics include AI adoption trends, large language model applications, and developing solutions for security-related challenges.

Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, highlighted that the UAE's vision is centred on shaping the future through its skilled workforce. This talent pool is proficient in advanced technologies, with AI being a core element of the UAE's digital transformation strategy.

The programme comprises five modules: an introduction to artificial intelligence, generative AI, data strategies for machine learning, studies on generative models, and implementing generative AI technologies. It aims to empower innovators capable of designing the digital future and steering global technological progress.

The sixth edition features a distinguished academic faculty including Professor Nigel Mehdi from Oxford University; Professor Kashif Rajpoot from the University of Birmingham; Dr. David Johnson from Uppsala University; and Dr. Farah Shamout from NYU Abu Dhabi.

The programme has graduated over 370 employees from more than 100 organisations across previous cohorts. These graduates hold leadership roles like Chief AI Officer, a position recently established by the UAE government. They have contributed significantly to innovative AI projects within their sectors.

Al Olama emphasised that this initiative is crucial for driving future growth in the UAE. By nurturing innovation and forward-thinking approaches, it strengthens the nation's position ahead of global technological trends while fostering groundbreaking solutions for upcoming challenges.
