UAE Appoints Maqsoud Kruse As Envoy To Counter Extremism And Terrorism
H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, has appointed Maqsoud Kruse as Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Countering Extremism and Terrorism, reinforcing the UAE’s active engagement in international efforts against extremism and terrorism.
The new role is designed to deepen cooperation with global partners, support coordinated responses, and reflect the UAE’s long-standing commitment to joint action against extremist ideologies and terrorist threats that affect regional and international stability across multiple continents and institutional frameworks.
The UAE has developed a comprehensive vision that focuses on tolerance, coexistence, and moderation when confronting extremism and hate speech. This approach also includes criminalising every form of discrimination, encouraging mutual respect among communities, and addressing the root causes that can contribute to terrorism.
Within this framework, the Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs will help advance national and global initiatives. The duties include building stronger international partnerships and taking part in specialised conferences, forums, and meetings at local, regional, and international levels that address extremism and terrorism.
The position also involves supporting the implementation and oversight of international resolutions, with a particular focus on decisions issued by the United Nations Security Council related to countering extremism and terrorism, alongside the United Nations’ wider strategy for addressing these issues across different geographical regions.
