UAE Airports Achieve Milestone Of Over 1 Billion Passengers In Ten Years

The UAE's aviation sector has experienced significant growth, with over one billion passengers passing through its airports from 2015 to 2024. Aircraft movements have also surpassed 6.4 million during this period. The Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Centre reported these figures, highlighting the country's top global ranking in air transport quality and its presence among the top ten in five other indicators.

Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism and Chairman of the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), credited these achievements to national strategies guided by leadership. He stated that the sector is shaping the future while achieving significant milestones. "These outcomes reinforce the UAE’s standing on the global aviation and travel map," he said.

UAE Airports Reach 1 Billion Passengers

The report emphasised that these accomplishments reflect the leadership's vision to enhance growth and competitiveness in this vital sector. This vision positions aviation as a cornerstone of national economic sustainability, both regionally and globally. The UAE's pioneering model integrates technological innovations with high safety and service standards.

Data from the Centre showed passenger traffic at UAE airports increased from 114.8 million in 2015 to 147.8 million in 2024. This includes arrivals, departures, and transit travellers, contributing to over one billion passengers in total during this decade.

Aircraft movements also saw a rise, with more than 800,000 by the end of 2024. This brought the total number of flights arriving and departing to over 6.4 million throughout these years.

The UAE's aviation sector continues to play an active role in driving national economic growth and competitiveness. It highlights a model for building a more efficient and sustainable aviation system that aligns with global standards.
